UM postpone the increase of unjustified tuition fees

The Faculty of Business and Accountancy wants to increase students’ tuition fees for the courses of Bachelor of Accounting and Finance.

KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Malaya Students’ Union of Faculty of Business and Accountancy had made a petition and gathered 771 signatures. The tuition fees for new students in the 2021/2022 academic session have successfully been postponed.
According to Berita Harian, this decision was made to safeguard the welfare of students, especially in a situation where the country is facing a situation hit by the COVID-19 pandemic said Professor Datuk Dr. Mohd Hamdi Abdul Shukor, UM Vice-Chancellor.
Faculty of Business and Accountancy increased unjustified tuition fees for the courses of Bachelor of Accounting and Finance on 24 September.

University of Malaya Student’s Union (UMSU), Faculty of Business and Accountancy (FBA) posted a statement on their official Instagram account.
Courses of Bachelor of Accounting’s tuition fees for one semester went up from RM4774.50 to RM11,080.00. It increased to about RM6305.50. Similarly, tuition fees that students have to pay increase from RM870 to RM 2070.
Courses of Bachelor of Finance’s tuition fees for one semester from RM4774.50 to RM8927. Tuition fees that have to be paid by students rise from RM1260 to RM1830.
